DAVID LAYS DOWN THE LAW IN
N-EAST BOYS' CHAMPIONSHIP

... but he misses out on match-play

Scotland team player David Law (Hazlehead) showed his interenational class by winning the North-east boys' golf championship with two shots to spare at Duff House Royal Golf Club today. Law, who is 17, had rounds of 66 and 68 for a total of two-under-par 134. The CSS was 69 for both rounds, one more than the Banff course's par.
Adam Dunton (McDonald Ellon) was runner-up on 136 with scores of 71 and 65.
First-round leader Jamie Robertson (Turriff) slumped from a 64 to a second-round of 78 to finish joint eighth.
David Law's commitments have ruled him out of the North-east boys' match-play championship at the same venue tomorrow. The Bill Brown Trophy will be contested by the next four highest finishers: Adam Dunton, Tom Spencer (Inchmarlo), David Miller (Oldmeldrum) and Calum Trahan (Royal Aberdeen).
The draw is: 9.30am Dunton v Trahan, 9.38 Spencer v Miller.
The two winners of the semi-finals will meet in the final in the afternoon.
Alexander Wiseman (Fraserburgh) won the Under-16s Scratch Cup with an aggregate f 142 (73-69), the same total as R Manson (Braemar) who lost out in the tie-breaking comparison of the boys' second rounds.
